Alpha Numeric sizing

Sizing which is denoted by letters instead of numbers.  XS, S, M, L, XL is an example of an alphanumeric size run.

Rimmed Buttons

Buttons which have a rim around the edge.  Rim may vary in thickness or may be a contrast color.

shell buttons

Buttons which are made of shell.  These will feel cold to the touch unlike plastic or resin.

Shank Button

Button which has an attached shank or thread shank.  Attached shank my be made of plastic, metal or cloth.  The shank on the button raises it above the surface of the garment so there is no distortion when garment is buttoned.

2 Hole Button

Button with two holes.  So called because it has only two holes which thread is drawn through.  It can be flat or rimmed.

4-hole Button

This is a four hole button.  So called because it has four holes. Can be a flat or rimmed button.
